This would be pre-1996 sci fi - plot is that Earth is visited by advanced aliens and over the course of 24 hrs, everyone on Earth has the same dream sequence: they are given a choice to leave Earth as part of a collective consciousness or to remain on Earth. One shot deal, and when everyone has made their choice, then an alien assisted green evolution begins... The novel concentrates on some of the few who decide to stay on Earth...
