Where's all the Giant Robots?

Gundam. Lot's of anime available and I read several Gundam books in the 80's and 90's. I'm sure there are more, but mostly in Japanese. How's your Kanji?

And there was just that Pacific Rim malarky.

I love Pacific Rim! Cheesy maybe, but a whole load of fun. As I understand it they're working on the sequel now. Cheesy has never really bothered me too much so long as it's entertaining.

I'm happy to read this, BionicGriff! I too love Pacific Rim...and also movies about giant monsters. Cheese is the right word here...expecting cheese, you will find it in such films. Pacific Rim is a blast, IMO!

For sure, I always tell my wife, the only thing a movie needs to make it worth watching are space ships, aliens, robots, or giants, if you can combine them, even better. Pacific Rim gets 3 out of 4, pretty darn good! haha.

Here's a quick thought off the top of my head.
Talking of giant robots, how about some explores stumble upon an object so big that they can't see it's top.
After travelling a long distance they can just make out it's top with a powerful telescope.
However there is something bigger faintly looming above and behind it.
It's only when they leave that they realize that the thing they first saw was the big toe of a robot.
The rest is so massive and tall it's poking outside of the atmosphere.
Now that's what I call Giant!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That does sound cool. What's the robot for, why is it so big and what is going to happen with it that makes dramatic use of its gigantic humanoid shape?

It vaguely reminds me of a short, short story where an alien spots the Earth.
It picks it up between it's finger and thumb, peels off the crust and eats it, yummy!!!
Then another alien spots the first one, picks it up between it's finger and thumb before it can escape and eats it!
Big fleas have little fleas upon there backs to bite'em, little fleas have smaller fleas and so infinitum, except this is in reverse.
Have you ever seen the ending of "Antz"?
