Probably 5 years ago, I read a book that I found rather strange, but I cannot remember the name. I am hopeful that this forum can help out. Here's what I do remember:
- The book had some kind of opposed light / dark entities - I think the dark one was related to thorns. Both had their own affiliated knights
- A lot of the focus was on this strange substance, connected to a mad god. It was basically gunpowder, except it exploded when it came into contact with blood. Some of the characters were investigating the source of this substance, if I recall. I'm pretty sure this is going to be the identifying factor if I locate the book again.
- I remember something about a tower.
