Comics on Sale - Comics by comiXology: Web UK

I strongly suggest checking this sale out if you like comics with strong stories. I'm not sure how long its going to be up for; so I'd recommend jumping in as soon as you can least it vanishes (although a few of these do appear in bundle sales now and then)

Tokyo Ghost - East of West - Saga - Low - great series all in this sale that I've read and many more that I've not but which get great reviews such as Strange Girl - The Walking Dead and many many others.

Note there's both issues and volumes on sale (including some omnibuses like for Strange Girl and Saga) though they are not all listed in series order so do check out all the pages to make sure you don't miss a volume/collected edition instead of getting a selection of issues (that is, of course, assuming you want a collected edition).

Thanks for posting this up Overread. There are some comics on there that I've pondered in the past but not bought.

How do you find using digital comics? I've always bought them in their physical form, be that either soft back or hard cover. Do you use an iPad or a pc to read them?

The ones I've haven't read that look interesting are: Outcast, East of West, Low, Strange Girl and Tokyo Ghost. I'd be interested to hear which you'd recommend from this selection.

I use a samsung tablet and must admit I find it great in general. The screen is bright and glossy and ideal for reading colourful or even black and white comics. If you get a nice big screen (9 to 12 inches) then they are easy to read and the zoom feature can be handy too. PDF or comixology are easy to read and I generally enjoy it.

I've not gotten much into physical comics due to space issues thus the digital area is ideal for getting into them - esp with some series going into sales or bundles (such as on Humble Bundle website) which makes getting into some a bit cheaper than physical as well.

Plus you can read the digital ones over and over and over again without worry of them getting torn/worn or otherwise damaged from use.

Of the ones you're interested in East of West is great; I've gotten 2 volumes into that and its a good read; a dark mysterious world with a mix of fantasy coupled with technology with an overall "western" feel to it but without it bieng overbearing.

Tokyo Ghost is also great fun; artwork is a bit more quirky but it really fits with the story itself. I've not actually read a handful of the recent ones as its coming out fairly regularly and building into a soon finish so I'm getting them and saving up for the last issue or two so I can read it all in one go. It's shorter than some; but I'd heartily recommend it.

I've not read the others; although Strange Girl might be worth getting as its got an omnibus edition in the sale (if you nose around for it) which has the complete series in it start to finish.

I've a mini iPad which I think is about 8" so should be ok. I like the idea of being able to dip into them and see if I like them so i'll give it a go.

East of West sounds excellent and thanks for your all your advice, much appreciated

Yep give it a try - a single volume isn't much of East of West so you can certainly get into the story and see how it reads on your ipad. Just be ready its one of those stories that starts a little bit in the middle; so you get some flashbacks to fill in info along the way but the story itself is also advancing at agood pace in the present so you're never left feeling like nothings happening.
