The book happens over three sections, and i remember there being a significant time gap between the sections.
Humanity has established time travel through wormholes and has placed a security force at the "upstream" side of the wormhole to prevent time paradoxes. At the opening of the book, alien vessels capable of impossible accelerations and maneuvers stream out of the wormhole and attack the security force, destroying them. This is the clearest scene I have in my memory of this book, I do remember there being a great library on the moon which is destroyed in Act 3 or so. One of the characters may be named Anton? I'm at the fuzzy limits of my memory now and hesitate to include more, lest I start making things up.
Any help would be much appreciated. I also have a vague memory that the author (or one of them, there might be two) also wrote some Star Wars books.
