A little book help please.

I read this Sf book when i was a wee kid and always think of it but I can't recall who wrote it or what it was called. I got it from my local library. I'd like to read it again.

There were 5 animals and they were telepathic. A fox and a cat, and maybe a monkey and two others. I can't even recall now! what am i like.

The name Andre Norton comes to mind. or Poul somebody.

Anyone any idea what the book might have been? thanks and sorry for my sloppy memory.

Poul Anderson is a heavy weight in SF/F, but I'm afraid I've no idea if he might be the author of this.

Sounds like Beast Master by Andre Norton.

I didn't give you much to go on. Sorry. Beastmaster sounds kinda close. But there was definitely a fox and a monkey. And I dont recall any meerkats.

With no knowledge whatsoever I noticed that Poul Anderson had one book I'd never read but seems to have a title a bit reminiscient of the enquirey:- The Fox, the Dog, and the Griffin by Poul Anderson

I'm remembering how great Andre Norton and Poul Anderson are. And Larry Niven, any one familair with his work.
So its in the bin for China Mielville and William Gibson, I'm going to have a classic retro phase.
