I'm looking for a particular book and/or its author

There is a book I read a couple of decades ago and I'm trying to find out both the title and the author, neither of which I can remember. Here is what I do remember. It was on a list of the top 100 sci-fi/fantasy novels. It involved a couple of characters, one, a male who was basically a werewolf, the other a female who was a shape-changer from somewhere out in the galaxy. These two eventually develop a love interest before the end of the book. The third thing I remember is that a lot of the action takes place on a spaceship or space station of some kind. That is about all I remember of the book If you have any ideas what on earth I'm talking about, please let me know!

Sounds a little like The Werewolf Principle by Clifford D. Simak, but not quite.

I don't think it had the word "werewolf" in the title.

could this be one of the Vor Trilogy books featuring a half werewolf named Max Gunnarsson ?

glad I could help. I was going to download that series from the free book library site a fortnight ago but the site went offline - i was pleased I'd managed to grab about eighty or so ebooks first!

Awesome! Personally, I have a hard time reading anything other than traditional books, but I applaud your resourcefulness.
