Human female protagonist, alien ship of artifacts from different species

I cant remember much at all of this book except that it was set in an intergalctic future and they spent most of it worried about an alien vessel. When they finally boarded it, it was on autopilot and just cruising the universe collecting things from different planets. I seem to remember it reading like a book 1 of 3 or something, but can never remember the name of it

Sounds like Chindi by Jack McDevitt

This puts me in mind of books by Larry Niven that feature the Tnuctipun. I half-remember a story where a crew find one of their ships and eventually manage to get aboard. The ship is empty (i.e. it's on autopilot) but they discover some fabulous technology or weapon.
