AuthorEarnings reports that their stats show a big drop in indie publisher sales over this year:
October 2016 Author Earnings Report: A Turning of the Tide…? – Author Earnings
A blip on the radar caused by volatile Amazon Imprint sales? A result of traditional publishers heavily discounting paperback bestsellers?
Or, are Amazon readers simply becoming more savvy about the quality they'll read?
Alternatively, are constant indie promotions for 99p/99c training readers to hold back on purchase decisions to wait for offers?
Either way, I've encountered a number of accounts over the web this year about indie authors reporting big falls in sales. Their message has been, and remains: that their ebooks are selling nowhere near as well as they used to.
Is it possible that it may not be just traditional publishers who are seeing significant changes and challenges to their business models?
