Clearer statements, and more frequent royalty payments - perhaps even monthly - coming to Hachette authors:

Also, possibly different types of contracts for the weighting of royalties:

He also envisaged different types of contracts: one would be low advance, higher royalty, paying more often; another would be traditional high advance, lower royalty, paying less often.

It's good to see that some traditional publishing companies are looking at increasing their flexibility. At this point, I think low advance, higher royalty might be the best way to go for a lot of people and it's good they see the need to pay more frequently than every 6 months. I've heard of authors having to pay exorbitant tax before they even see their first royalty check. (this is in the States).
 
This sounds really good. More frequent royalty statements are a huge and very important change to make if publishers want to stay competitive against Amazon.
