I can't remember the name or author of this book! What I can remember..
Woman and father are cave exploreres.. father dies. There is an underground civilization that the woman discovers. In the story she falls in love with one of the inhabitants..
There are books in this world that can take you to different worlds...

HELP
 
This sounds a bit like the trilogy of novels based on the Myst PC games. The first one is called Myst: The Book of Atrus, written by Rand Miller, and there's an omnibus called The Myst Reader. The one with the woman is Myst: The Book of Ti'ana.
