[Spoilers for Babylon 5, Season 3!]

This was always my favourite season of Babylon 5 - everything we saw building up slowly in Season 1 went up a gear in Season 2, to the point of being frenetic in Season 3 as major story lines continued to develop.

Severed Dreams was always a personal favourite - the episode that got me into B5, not least because I love a good space battle. It marks a culmination for the Earth Force storyline, and for a long time I thought it was the series highlight - that it all began to lose steam after that.

However, we've just watched Interludes and Examinations, with the astonishing plot points regarding Kosh, Londo's doom, and Steven resigning...

And now we're watching World Without End involving Babylon 4 again, which is the best time travel storyline I've ever seen. Truly, Season 3 has no individual peak, but a long high plateau. :)

I've watched it all now and I see why you like this series so much. These episodes were pivotal, building on everything that went before, and informing on everything that happens afterwards. Few TV series are planned that way.

However, it is clear that Sinclair was never intended to leave, and that the fifth Season was not expected. This does spoil the overall effect a little.

I agree with you that these were the best episodes, and the vision behind creating them is great. No question about that.

Season 3 was also my favorite season.

Severed Dreams, War Without End (Pt 1 and 2--who doesn't like Zathras?) and Shadow Dancing really made the season the top one.

Agreed, Severed Dreams really gets the pulse racing. War Without End remains the most phenominal time travel episodes of any SF franchise. Beautifully done.

Messages from Earth is another episode that comes to mind. The thought of a phsychotic Shadow vessal on the loose doesn't bear think about.

Yes, Messages from Space...being chased into Jupiter's atmosphere and gravity, and using it to defeat the insane Shadow vessel, and then having to deal with a human destroyer responding to the incident, indeed made for an interesting viewing.
