Saw this book on the Sci-Fi table in Heffers, Cambridge within the last few months. This suggests it is probably a recent publication. Paperback format, mostly red cover. Vaguely remember something about finding love in unlikely places.
Skimmed the first chapter where the woman is starting a new research job in rather run down university laboratory (maybe Oxford or Cambridge?). While exploring the lab she looks through a window and sees someone dragging a piano acoss a muddy field ...
A long way from my usual hard sf but intriguing. Someone else must have thought the same because the book was gone next time I went in.
Any ideas?
