A piece here showing celebrity deaths through 2016:
Beatles-inspired tribute to the long list of celebrities who have died this year | Daily Mail Online

Quite disturbing that I recognise so many of them:

Lemmy died last year :(

that being said the pace of celebrity deaths will only increase as the years go on

I like the addition of the toblerone and the 'Make America Gret Again' hat!

I'm wondering if 2016 will set a record for most celebrity deaths in a single calendar year. With more than a day left, the way things have been going, I guess it's too early to say. :(

They were taking about this on a regular BBC statistics radio programme called More or Less* recently and, though it is hard to categorise exactly what a celebrity is these days, they concluded that the first three months of 2016 saw a significant increase in celebrity deaths but the rest of the year was about typical. This was measured against the last four years I think. Going back further there does appear to be an increasing trend and my belief is that we are now reaching the natural lifespan of the first generation of modern celebrities. Before the era of TV there were film and some music celebrities but since the dawn of TV we have had a huge growth of TV and music celebrities and, sadly, the oldest of these are now reaching their sell by dates. RIP one and all.

Quite a few more gone since November 13th.

Vertigo's got a good point. I suspect that in a few years 'celebrity' will include 'people who have posted a lot on the internet'.
