BBC 6Music have recently started another series of radio programmes on a Sunday where famous authors take over as DJs for an hour and play some of their favourite music. Typically this tends to involve some anecdotes and occasional chat on writing as well. Yesterday's show was by Irvine Welsh and can now be listened to online.
In addition to the new episodes, some older ones have also been re-released online. I listened to old ones by Ian Rankin and Iain M. Banks last week, and both were enjoyable and interesting with some interesting writing-related moments. I hadn't realised the Rankin episode was old, so if anyone listens, that festival up in Scotland he mentions? If you like the sound of it, unfortunately it hasn't run for a few years - took me ages to find that out The Iain Banks one was particularly fascinating for anyone who loves his books. And there are some great tunes in the programmes, too.
