Game of Thrones prequel coming?

Let sleeping dragons lie
They're flogging a dead dragon with that idea
umm.... can't think of any more at the moment, lol

Needless to say I am not a fan of a prequel: this could end up like the Star Wars saga; prequels and sequels and reboots et al

But I guess I am in the minority here, and it will go into production regardless.

A prequel has a lot of potential. So many possibilities and could be great. Though I doubt it could be as complex and rich a story as Game of Thrones if written in a short time. Also it will further distract George from finishing the main book series!

I love a prequel, that is, if it does not have so much nudity as the main series.

I would agree on the nudity front. But I would imagine it will remain in order to keep the ratings ticking over! That and a good dose of violence of course.

The Targ rise and fall would make for a good series. Mark Addy will be an old fart by the time they get round to Robert's Rebellion, though!
I would restrict the Targ angle to the rise and Doom of Valyria. Taking it through the Dance of Dragons and Robert's Rebellion is probably too ambitious. The central characters of Robert's Rebellion need not me Robert, Ned, the Mad King, and the others. they could be peripheral characters with the main characters being new. perhaps some soldiers in the armies. a master. or a handmaid.

There is the planned cross-over with Guardians of the Galaxy starring Hodor and Groot. The script is just sitting there waiting for the next Hollywood scriptwriters strike to take place.

A new report in Variety states the Dunk & Egg, Robert's Rebellion, and Aegon the Unlikely will not be filmed
