Legendary Buys Full Rights to DUNE

Dune is a difficult beast to tame for the screens. Even in book format with the bonus of background info and fill-in its still a mysterious story that holds a lot of its power to its mythological and religious elements.

That said there's enough material to make it as a TV series Game of Thrones style (ergo strong story without the whole weekly formula approach).

No reason they can't do both. Like what Star Trek has been doing and continues to do now. I think the creative elements are there in Hollywood to get a great original sci-fi property out the door and onto millions of screens. In the future, Star Wars could be shaking in their sleep if done right.

As a full tv series, Dune would work and probably be very successful in that format. :)
