RIP Richard Adams

RIP.

I honour him for the two animal books (Plague Dogs, and Watership Down) that I have on the shelf still. I do hope he'll be remembered for more than that animated version of WD...

Have just finished rereading Watership Down - many years since I'd read it, and found it still a wonderful book. RIP.

Watership Down was my favourite book as a child, and when I re-read it as an adult I found it just as compelling. Richard Adams wrote some other wonderful books too, and I'm sure he'll be well remembered.

RIP a very brilliant (if idiosyncratic) author…

Watership Down and The Plague Dogs are both wonderful, but Shardik - which RA thought his best work - is also wonderful, as is The Girl In A Swing. After that, he seemed to go into a bit of a decline… But Watership Down will stand the test of time.
