Hi all, great to be here.

I'm looking for a sci-fi book I read a few years ago in passing.
I have no idea of the title, and sadly Google has failed me. Please help!
A quick synopsis:
Earth is inspecting an alien craft that has shot past earth. During the investigation, the craft jumps to a part of the galaxy undiscovered by humans. They are dragged through its wake (not dissamilarly to a Remora fish) and arrive in a gigantic structure, with many other alien races inhabiting.
The ship that drags them there is set a upon by other races in the same predicament, and stripped as a valuable commodity.
There is also a breed of aliens that they align with who can reverse aging.
Lastly the captain of the ship evolves powers due to nanotechnology that was sent by a dying earth in the shape of a cube. They launched the cubes afterwards in an attempt to reach them.

Sounds incredibly bizarre and it is. It might even be a terrible book, but I can't set my mind at ease unless I know what it was called.

Many thanks in advance.

Ark

Your use of the metaphor of remoras makes me wonder if this is one of the books in the Great Ship series by Robert Reed. I am only familiar with the first story in the series ("The Remoras") but there are some full length novels about that vast structure.

Many years ago I read the Rama series , a good number of the points made in the O P don't seem to fit with the books ( to be fair its New Years Eve and my memories may be hazy for some inexplicable reason ) hic!

Thanks for all the help! I think it might be the Greatship books. I'm still a bit unsure, however. I'll just have to roll the dice and buy the book.
