Potential new mechanism for creating planets

The standard model says that planets coalescence from clouds of dust and gas in space - but a new theory suggests that fragments of destroyed stars could be whizzing all over the galaxy, and once captured by a solar system, could be indistinguishable from native planets:

Milky Way’s core could be spewing out planet-sized star chunks
 
"These chunks of spaghettified stars will have a distinctive composition: each one will be a sample of a different part of its parent star. It’s like dicing a tomato.."
