Self-publishing: Amazon vs Apple

This article does an interesting point of talking up Apple's approach to terms by comparison to Amazon:

I know it's pretty much impossible to to ignore Amazon in self-publishing - but it does argue the point that Apple might be a platform worth taking a little more seriously for the long-term view.
 
As far as I know if you don't have a Mac you have to go through a distributor such as Draft2Digital to get onto it. In which case, the terms would be different than someone who can go direct.
 
Smashwords allows for Apple distribution.
Both my books are distributed out that way there.
With smashwords the hard part is getting Amazon distribution.
But if you don't hogtie yourself with amazon you could go both ways.

On smashwords the biggest movers of my book have been
first Barnes and Noble (~75%)
second Sony (~13%)
third Apple (~10%)
