Hi,

When I was growing up in the 70s and 80s I had a big A4 (at least) sized hardback book which was all about the animals in Africa. The cover had a male lion on the front - possibly an elephant, too.

The format inside was a couple pages dedicated to each animal; a page of pictures and a page of text. It had lungfish, secretaray bird, jerboa, lion, cheetah, elephant, hippo et al.

I'm not after that actual book, but another one in the series that I found at my school library. It was in the same series but was about the pacific ocean or perhaps just the fish in the pacific ocean. That's the one I want to get hold of. It has opah, oarfish, sailfish/marlin or swordfish, remora and Ocean Sunfish (Mola mola) and that's all I can remember at the moment.

It was the first time I had ever seen an opah and I'm really eager to get my hands back on the book in light of new science research that opah's can warm their blood, and see what it says in the old book.

What I've done
I've put in all variety of search strings in ABEbooks - no joy.
I've Googled via picture search using book, pacific ocean, wildlife etc and still can't find the cover.

Can anyone help? Does anyone remember these books ? they may even go back to the 60s, atually.

Thanks

Thanks for the response. Still no nearer.

After I posted I tried for over an hour again with dates 1969-1985 and still couldn't find it. :(

I'd check in my parents' loft next time I'm down but my mum has a habit of giving everything to the church.

Did you find this? Usbourne were excellent for this sort of thing when I was a kid. I've Googled and they were founded in 1973.

In the 70's we got books once a month from Time Life.
I don't know why but yours sounds vaguely familiar.
Too long ago to remember but Time Life may be worth googling.
