So apparently a good source of reliable Doctor Who spoilers recently is saying that Kris Marshall may be the next Doctor -- but there are discrepancies with Capaldi's statement about regenerating in the Christmas special. Guess we'll see.

I don't think I know much about him, except they have a picture of him in Love Actually, which I just recently saw for the first time. He's the name I didn't recognize in that cast.

Kris Marshall Reported To Replace Peter Capaldi On 'Doctor Who'

I heard this rumbling around a couple of weeks back. I like Kris Marshall and UK people recognise him as Nick from My Family, Death in Paradise, and the dude in the old BT epic saga adverts. I've only really seen him in funny roles so I'd be interested what his take would be on the gravitas needed to play the Doctor.

However, I think this rumour originally came from The Mirror (tabloid newspaper) so not sure how much I believe this yet.

In the past, The Mirror has broken these casting rumours first and been correct. If I was the BBC I would be seriously looking at where their mole is.

I forgot that Kris Marshall was in My Family for years.

That would be the gravitas displayed by Matt Smith? :D

I actually think that Matt Smith found the perfect mix of young and old, and could be one of the scariest when he got going!

But yes, he was also quite slapstick :D

Well, we aren't likely to get one of color while we have Bill -- does that also hold true, do you think, for getting a woman?

it would be very interesting to see how marshall played the doctor.

i will go out on a limb and say as much as it would be a great, if somewhat unexpected step, i don't think the BBC are ready to cast a black woman in the role...
