(Found) Looking for name of book/series

Its a series about a government program where violent prisoners are experimented on.The project goes bad (don't they always?) and the monsters destroy most of humanity.The prisoners had numeric names.I think the book title is along those terms.

As soon as i posted ,i stumbled across it on a list.
It was a series by Justin Cronin .The first book was The Passage.2nd was The Twelve and 3rd book is City of Glass.

I knew as soon as I posted i would find it.... Thanks!
