Looking for a book from 70's maybe. alien blood is a drug

A man who is physically crippled with minor psychic powers discovers that when he takes an illegal drug is powers increase. It turns out that the drug is actually the blood of a dying alien in a crashed star ship.
Seems that people are after him that can teleport. His powers are off the charts when he gets a big supply of the drug.
Anyone know title, author?

Not sure about your story, nut the idea has been used by a number of others, including Perdido Street Station by China Mieville, and one of the Tom Baker Dr Who stories from the late70/early 80s.

Were the teleport people human?
I got a faint tickling memory on a story like this - off-worlders who look human are also trying to find this crashed craft.
Did they use some kind of mathematical memory equation to teleport?

I remember 'The Clairvoyant' being in a wheelchair but can't remember if alien blood helped his psychic talents

No I was thinking of Coulson and Daisy / Sky being saved from death by alien blood, and it being a way to turn up powers.
