Holiday season approaches. What are you taking with you to read?

I have 2 weeks on a remote island with no TV. Time to read. A collection of light escapism and some more demanding stuff. Enough that I can move on if I find I do not like something.

Roumeli by Patrick Leigh Fermor
A Biography of Robert Byron by James Knox
The Complete Novels of Flann O'Brien
Pigs Have Wings by PG Wodehouse
Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole (re-read)
Jusy One Damned Thing After Another by Jodi Taylor
Ring Around the Sun by Clifford D Simak
The Weapon Shops of Isher by AE van Vogt
Razor Girl by Carl Hiaasen
Star Maker by Olaf Stapledon
The Cold Six Thousand by James Ellroy

I have a week off mid-August, and I'm not really sure yet what I'll be reading, though these are likely suspects,
The Memory Garden by M.(Mary) Rickert
The Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter by Theodora Goss
Death at La Fenice by Donna Leon
Medusa's Web by Tim Powers
The Broken Hours by Jacqueline Baker

Then again, I might just haul The Big Book of Science Fiction around and pick and choose from that.

Are you on about the book from The Changes trilogy? I really enjoyed that series

Yes! The Weathermonger is a very special book for me, it ticks every box: sweeping away modern technology: Check. Lots of action in Wales: Check. Elsewhere set in deepest rural England: Check. A Rolls-Royce and some maps: Check. Wonderful, wonderful book. One of these days I will be "inspired" by it and do something very similar... ;)

My holiday season starts right now acutally and even if im not leaving for a trip yet im reading in holiday reading speed of like two books a week so :

The Old Man and the Sea - Hemingway
Orlando - Virginia Woolf
The Transmigration of Bodies -Yuri Herrera
Pole Dancing to Gospel Hymns - Andrea Gibson
The Million Dollar Wound - Max Allan Collins
Hon är Arg - Maja Langvad Lee
To Live Forever - Jack Vance
The Pleasant Grove Murders - Jack Vance

I don't tend to take holidays in the summer and besides I rarely seem to find the time for reading whilst on 'holiday'. However my 'summer' reading for the next four or five weeks is probably:

Mappa Mundi - Justina Robson
The Mauritius Command - Patrick O'Brian
The Third Reich - Roberto Bolano
The Ringworld Engineers - Larry Niven
Shattered Spear - Jack Campbell
The Exile Kiss - George Alec Effinger
Second Foundation - Isaac Asimov
