Daenerys holds court; Cersei returns a gift; Jaime learns from his mistakes.

Fantastic episode. And a long time coming, as some of the headlines put it out. It gave us moments we haven't seen, feelings that went from one side to another as I personally laughed and shared tears. So, in a way it was a perfect chapter and it continued in honour of rolling off the main cast.

The list is getting rather short for the people, who can take the Iron Throne. At the moment it is between Cercei, Daenary and the Night King. My money is on the dead as I strongly believe Daenery will perish on direct confrontation as she has no choice put to go to King's Landing after the Casterly Rock fiasco blew on her face.

One thing that I don't understand is how the Iron Fleet is so fast? It took down one fleet, delivered the prisoners to King's Landing and then went around the Westros to strike on Unsullied rear without nobody noticing in the Dragonstone. All without losing a ship?

Well, I guess to their defence this is a fantasy series and the Iron Fleet is made from the ninja ships. I just would have thought that those dragon's would have contributed more on the overall defence than being show of force to the King of North.

In a way I could claim the Hand failed to serve the Queen of Dragon's by splitting the forces and not seeing that his brother was better at the strategy. And because Cercei is so concentrated on killing her opponents, she is only doing a favour for the Night King. He doesn't even need to come over the Wall as he can wait until the white is covering the land, and his opponents has mostly killed themselves in the this mad Game of Thrones.

A question, is the Three Eyed Raven same as the face-on-tree (Sorry, I have a hole in my memory)? Is he another God? Or should I say a champion or an avatar for that deity, meaning is he the same as The Red Woman is to the Lord of Light and Arya to the Faceless God.

Cersei's revenge against Ellaria for the death of Myrcella was appropriate but extreme. Death by a personally delivered poisonous kiss was a perfect choice, but planning to imprison Ellaria for life with the decaying corpse of her daughter confirms that Cersei has gone a bit bonkers.

In another case of poison-for-poison, I loved Lady Tyrell's defiant exit -- chugging the wine, then confessing to King Joffrey's assassination. I thought Jamie's expression showed regrets for giving Olena an easy way out, compared to the methods considered by his crazy sister.

Thanks to Sam's unauthorized medical procedure, Jorah is now barnacle-free. He needs to rejoin Dany ASAP, as Tyrion is proving to be a poor strategical match for his brother.

It's a pity that Jon can't display a few cell phone images of the Army of the Dead when he makes his pitches for alliances. :D

I don't he knew any of that and maybe you're right, he was shocked to learn the truth.

They would burn him on the stake for witchcraft if he suddenly pulled a mobile out from his ... purse. Does his armour have pockets?

Courtroom/battlefield artist?

whilst I was hoping for something more from the conversations between Dany and Jon, everything that needed to be said was said. Plus it left the relationship between the 2 sides intact. Dany is getting whooped so far cause of her not being ruthless enough. I utterly disliked that they once more used the sewer thingie. There was no need for that, they could have allowed the Lannisters small force to be defeated without that cheat loophole especially since the fall of Casterly Rock was clearly part of the calculations of the Lannisters. Though undoubtedly they (lannisters) would have hoped their small force could have withold the castle as well. Since that is something Storm's End has done multiple times in the books. Seems highgarden was easy enough to conquer as well. Guess the defense of castles is overrated. Still at least it was implied the Lannisters managed to defeat the Tyrell forces without a cheat code. I disagree with Jaime that Casterly Rock has become worthless cause the mines stopped running. If the fortress is that hard to supposedly conquer it is worth something. Add the vicinity of Lannisport, a thriving small city/large town and it's def. not worthless imo. But I get the point he was trying to make.

I have a feeling Arya will end up being the one coming between Sansa and Littlefinger and reveal the truth about the goldcloaks but if Bran sees all that has happened in the past, he should know and be able to tell as well. Still don't understand how Bran can see in the South with their being no weirwoods. That has been glossed over. Methinks it will be Meera's father in the books, not Brandon who will tell the tale of the Tower of joy, as Bradon seeing it never made much sense.

Seems the Red Lady still sees herself as having a role to play, as she is convinced she will end up dying in westeros. Wonder what she needs in Volantis.

I take back what I said about the convo between Dany and Jon. Rewatched it on youtube and it's actually quite good. lol @ Jon and Davos. All that they said was straight to the point and impactful. Meanwhile Dany on an entire different page trying to secure the iron Throne which Jon doesn't give 2 cents about.

I have to say I'm becoming less of a fan of Dany. She's making less and less sense to me. I was fine with the empathetic, help the unfortunate. But her sudden insistence of being queen and her bringing up the bad mojo of her past and throwing it in people's faces... doesn't strike me as being very in character. If anything it's like, a ruthlessness in the wrong direction? Why is she slapping people who care about her with her words while basically giving Cersi the upper hand by being soft about taking the Iron Throne itself? It no make sense.

Thank God for Snow, Davos and Sam. Much as I'm all for woman power etc, I'm not liking any of them except for Lady Tyrell. And she just bowed out. Let's hope the Stark girls make up for it. And please, dear god, when can we get rid of Cersi?

she is getting out maneuvered because someone is spilling her plans to Euron. but Dany demonstrate that she can be as ruthless as the best of them.

Anyone notice Littlefinger's look when the new Maester of Winterfell said he would search through old Maester Luhwins Raven records as he was a meticulous recorder. Was there a note from Cat or Ned warning of Littlefinger's treachery, a note on the dagger? I cannot recall.

And Melisandre's cryptic words to Varys that they would both die in Westeros. It left him speechless for once.

a great episode i thought, and they did a great job (for me at least) of changing my feelings on characters, again. Dany is losing my good will as she gets more and more tyrant-like. she expects the iron throne because of her birthright, and doesn't seem to feel the need to win the people as well as the land any more. as @EJDeBrun said, she has gone down in my estimation since she stopped saving slaves. i'm almost glad she has been dealt a few blows as i'm not sure i want her on the throne.

and on the flipside, this was one of those rare episodes where i had sympathy with Cersei .well, maybe not sympathy, but empathy at least. she is a horrible person but inside it is a mother that has lost the children she loved, and certainly some of her actions have been in response to that. and i never really like the sandsnakes with the way they killed myrcella et al without mercy. so i'm kind of glad they're out of the picture and i thought the queen's justice was awesomely done. i kept expecting gruesome skull crushing or dismemberment but in the end Cersei's revenge was very apt.

Thank God for Snow, Davos and Sam.

This ^^.

i noticed this. like a teenager who's mum has just decided to check his emails and internet history.

Surely the Starks are still major contenders. john is certainly more worthy than Dany. I suspect Littlefinger will put himself as a contender too. Euron might have a grab if he gets the chance, though he would never keep it.

Another episode with some good scenes and some not so interesting scenes. Jon and Dany's long awaited meeting turned out to be a damp squib. But certainly Jon now has the moral high ground while Dany is clearly a power hungry petulant child. She doesn't seem like a noble candidate anymore really. But at least she can be persuaded to see sense such as regarding the Dragonglass. If the story has a happy ending specifically regarding who takes the Iron Throne then Jon will have it. Though he doesn't seem to have any ill effects from being brought back from the dead. By the way Ghost (Jon Snow's Direwolf) is mysteriously missing from the screen this series.

No combat at Highgarden didn't make sense. A big army at the gates doesn't mean guaranteed siege success. A few too many holes in the story. If they had said most of the Tyrrels were wiped out on ships that would have made more sense.

Varys was extremely upset about the Red Priestess being about. Probably just due to her using magic but after Dany's questioning of him last week and his upset this week he is becoming more of a likely candidate as the one leaking info to Euron/Cersei about navy location etc. Though not clear why he would.

Cersei is one of the best characters in the series, at least recently. Around her is where we see a lot of the interesting parts of the story. The passion with her and Jaimie is better than the Greyworm episode. Her brutality is compelling. Lets hope it is a good while before she is finally defeated. Or maybe she will triumph :D

My understanding is that most of the Tyrell bannermen are with Randyll Tarly attacking Highgarden.

Good point Svalbard. So the Tyrells were left high and dry and perhaps surrendered. If they had decided to defend the castle I'm sure there would have still been quite the battle.

I forgot about the important line. Melisandre said she "brought Ice and Fire together" when Jon arrived at Dragonstone. There has been a lot of debate if the Song of Fire and Ice was to do with people, dragons, white walkers or what.

I think some of the crackpot theories about Dany being Nissa and Jon being Azhor Ahai could be about to bare fruit. If I remember the story about them it doesn't end well for Niss. Could be Dany's third prophesied betrayal.

Ah yes, another good reminder about the 3rd betrayal. That will be related to whoever has been giving info to Euron/Cersei. I suppose Jon Snow could later betray her but is seems she already has been.

Hmmmm.... we've had two poisonings - and we see neither death.

Could Qyburn be a traitor after all?

If so I hope Ser Zombie squashes his head. In fact, I hope it either way!

Indeed! Lets face it, your not even dead when your dead in GOT (John Snow, stab, stab, stab) let alone when they don't even show it - always wondered about Stannis too?

Could Qyburn be a traitor after all?

Interesting, he was the chap who created the monster, so could have given himself ultimate control over it? In fact given the company he keeps, would have been stupid not to!
