This year's FantasyCon is taking place in Peterborough between Friday 29th September and Sunday 1st October. More information for anyone interested is here:
Fantasycon

The full line-up of events hasn't been announced yet, but the following guests of honour have been announced:
Ben Aaronovitch
Nancy Kilpatrick
Pat Cadigan

In addition to that, I think that at least 2 Chrons members are in the running for the British Fantasy Awards on the Sunday. I think both @chopper and @Tirellan have been shortlisted, which is fantastic.

Tickets are still available via the website at the top and there are either tickets for the whole weekend, or day tickets for Saturday or Sunday. In addition to that anyone attending needs to be a member of the British Fantasy Society (BFS). Membership can be bought with the tickets on the event website, or via the BFS. For a cheaper option, the BFS also do paperless memberships for only £20.

It's pretty much on my doorstep, so I'm planning on attending my first convention.:)
There have been whispers of a potential northern invasion, and possibly folks from LonChron putting in an appearance so this could be a great chance for folks to catch up with fellow chronners as well as experience the con.

So, who reckons they might be going?

I'm looking forward to it already.:D Hope to see some of you there(y)

And having looked at how much I earn, compared with how much travelling to, staying at, and buying a ticket is for this I'm going to have to rule myself out.

Next year, when I've passed my apprenticeship however...

I'd love to get over but I have my never-ever-miss con (Titancon) in Sept and Octocon a week after Fantasycon and there is only so many times I can escape....

Not going this year. I am cutting back on Cons over the next 12 months as I am saving the pennies to go visit the eldest daughter in New Zealand. The cost of two Cons it a hell of a chunk of my airfare.

There's a little more info on the booking site now about the programme, though nothing too detailed: hwsevents

Also, for anyone trying to sign up for BFS membership via the BFS website there is apparently a technical problem with processing payments but they're working on fixing it.

I think I'll just be attending on the Saturday but I'm happy to coordinate some kind of gathering for anyone attending.

BristolCon is later in October. I cannot afford too many cons at the minute, and Peterborough's not easy for me to get to. It would be nice to go, though. Spent my teenage years there. Plus, Chrons meet-up.

I'll be there from Fri til the end on Sunday. Doing a panel on making fights realistic and then one on economics and fantasy worlds (on the Fri and the Sun respectively). Would love to meet fellow Chronners.
