I know this is what google is for, but even google is hard pressed at finding an answer. This is kind of a two-parter.
First, are there any known magazines that both have a pro market payment (.06 per word) and accept YA or even Middle-Grade fantasy and sci-fi short stories. I always find it's even harder to find magazines that accept anything within that spectrum. I'm aware of Cicada and Youth Imagination (and I submitted to those, the latter I got personal feedback on), but I have a hard time finding others that have such a distinction. If I recall, I've noticed Abyss and Apex accepts young adult, but they're closed ATM.
Also, the second question, will any of the bigger markets (famous ones like Analog and OSC Medicine Show) accept stories geared towards younger readers, assuming they have at least a PG-13 stance? I know it's a silly question to assume, so I wonder if it's even worth submitting to them. I'm still new to this whole "magazine submission" thing and knowing who will accept what.
My stories have younger protagonists, so what would be the best avenue (I'm familiar with the submission grinder) to go about finding markets for these kinds of stories and seek pro payment in the process. (I will consider smaller markets if need be, but I prefer to shoot for bigger markets first.) Any help would be appreciated.
