These were all finished (just) in August but never mind!
Ringworld Engineers by Larry Niven - a good but flawed book. More here.
Shattered Spear by Jack Campbell - more enjoyable military SF but getting rather samey. More here.
The Exile Kiss by George Alec Effinger - very good science fiction noir crime thriller. More here.

tried peter f. Hamilton but didn't liked it. read ANOMALY... not bad. becoma a big fan of michael anderle lol

Ark Royal by Christopher Nuttall. Discussed this series in a "what are you reading thread" earlier this year.
Finally ordered the first two as a taster, started reading this afternoon.
Good military sci fi fun so far

Starting Out of the Silent Planet, by C.S. Lewis, today.

I managed to pick up the 1960's Pan edition pbs of the trilogy in great condition recently.

I started listening to Vaughn Heppner's* A.I. Destroyer, the first in the A.I. series.

---
I'm now able to go for my morning walks now after my hip replacement. So am starting to really roll through audio books again.

There are a few better writers in military S.F. but for my taste, not many.

I would think you will find people here that would be more than willing to talk with you. (Personally, I'm much more of a reader than a writer. The 75 word contests are about as far as I go in writing. Perhaps you would like to introduce yourself? There is a link. https://www.sffchronicles.com/forum/introductions/

As Parson says, we are always happy to chat with other writers and we have the Writing Challenges to keep us on our writing toes, which are open to everyone. Plus for those who want feedback on their Work(s) in Progress, we have a Critiques forum, where snippets up to a maximum of 1500 words can be posted, but that isn't open to you yet, since it requires a member to have at least 30 counted posts (not all posts in all areas of the site are counted for his purpose) and do be aware that it's only for non-published work, so you wouldn't be able to put any of your published novel up there.

So join in conversations here and elsewhere on the site -- tell us what books you've been reading lately, or if you have a favourite author, tell us who and why, plus contribute to topics on the Writing forums and get to know us. But do be careful not to mention your published book by name anywhere, since that would count as self-promotion which isn't allowed to new members.

Gasp! Choke of horror!
I - I'm not reading anything!
As mentioned before in monthly reading I always have a couple of books on the go.
One downstairs and one beside the bed. Often another in dining room as well.
For various reasons they've all finished today so I have no continuity.
Decisions decisions ; gonna dither for hours now!

Right. I've started book two of the Ark Royal series downstairs and put my battered copy of Stephen King's The Stand beside my bed. Ain't read it all the way through for a goodly while

I finished A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L'Engle last week, next up is Adam Robots, some short stories from Adam Roberts.

Lol! How on Earth does one unsubscribe from this website?
I have been looking for over half an hour now but, to no avail.

Hmmm!

Brian has given good advice unless you are looking for the door out. It's been rumored that there is one, but I've never found it.
