Episode 6 continues the story momentum nicely:

We see more of Dutch's former tutor who just won't leave her in peace (and hello? John knew about her mentor all along?).

Plus, that bio-weapon that destroys everyone from the same bloodline by turning them (and not anyone else) into ashes? Who's thinking the same thing I am - that the Royalty of the Quad sees it as a threat and sent The Company and the RAC after it?

If I had to summarize why I like this show in one sentence, it would be: “It has heart.”

Dutch, John and latecomer D'Avin really seem to care for each other. The elite Killjoys gathered in the bar exhibited an enviable camaraderie which even included hard-ass RAC bossman Turin. Nobody really wanted to execute the level five warrant on Big Joe, not even “designated asshole” Fancy Lee. Personally, I think his death was faked. I expect to see Big Joe again.

What the hell is Dutch's former mentor, Khlyen? He can take multiple stab wounds to the abdomen, apologize to Dutch for “laying hands” on her, then simply saunter away? I like this storyline.

My guess is that the gene bomb was intended to clear out entire family lines of Leithians to make good on the Qreshian promise to give land to Westerleyians who had lived on Leith for seven generations. When the weapon was stolen, the Nine Families got a little perturbed at the possible implications of having the weapon aimed in their direction.

Personally, the plot is getting a little 'superhero' for my liking. What you mention about Khylen's ability to take stab wounds and Big Joe's death being a fake are examples, but Dutch spacewalking without a suit last episode or the Nunnery having a fully stocked weapons locker, are too. They are a little bit 'cartoon character' in the way they run from one shoot out to the next too. Anyway, I will continue watching because I want to find out who Khylen is and what Red 17 is.

I think that the "superhero" element diminishes as the series progresses.
Although Killjoys may exhibit character and plot imperfections along the way, I've found the series to be consistently entertaining.

The key in the first season is Red 17. When you found out about it, you'll understand more about Khylen. Actually, I really hated Khylen at the beginning. I've changed my mind later in the series.

“Designated asshole” should not be Fancy Lee. I vote for Turin instead.
