Looking for this series (7-9 books) blue cover always with male character, long titles. Book 1 he is discovering his magical esque abilities. Black rubbery energy material he finds/uses. There's a young girl (teen) Rebecca or Kate. He's from a wealthy background. His cousin is a prince that he has to protect, his father someone important. He travels with an odd group to a factory where the baddies are making weapons. They hide in these animal shape big statues on the grounds of this factory/castle. The teen girl is training to be a soldier or assasin of some kind of guild. All I can think of they are brilliant and can't REMEMBER. Please help!

Hi,
It does sound a little like the Recluce series of books. Do you have mages battling one another over the forces of chaos and order? Black mages manipulate order for their magic, and white is the colour of chaos. And in the middle you have the very rare, special grey mages?
If not is there anything else you can tell us? When you read the books etc.
