DISCUSSION THREAD -- December 2017 75-word Writing Challenge

Actually, I don't usually get involved in setting up the next challenge these days.

I set up the October 2017 challenge, but I did so as the winner of the previous challenge, not as a mod, just as LittleStar did so for the September 2017 challenge.

Oh. Oh-key Dough-key.

Blast, got distracted with Christmas and forgot all about voting :(

Congrats Peter V on winning though and hopefully I'll manager to participate fully next month.

My apologies for missing the voting. The holidays were especially hectic this season, and I seldom went online. But, congratulations to Peter V! And thanks to those who mentioned my little tale.

Wooops!

I'm so sorry @Abernovo I forgot to thank you for the vote. I was so pleased you brought water to the drought of votes I've been suffering lately. I was really worrying it'd be another famine this month!

Thank you for all the shortlisting and mentions for my little tale of friendly abomination. It was a lot more enlightening than my first attempt which was inspired by a documentary I saw called The Gift about gay men who deliberately put themselves in a place of risk for catching HiV. It wasn't really speculative, fantasy or SF so it went into the bin.

Congratulations Peter V! An outstanding story

No worries, pH! I know you've been travelling.
Glad to have brought a cup of refreshment to you. It was an excellent story.

Many thanks to Glen, TitaniumTi, Talysia, Cathbad, Phyrebrat, Nixie, CC, LittleStar and U.M. for the short lists and Heijan Xavier for the vote.

Clearly, my story fell just short on a few occasions of converting a short list into a vote.

I've been experimenting, when the theme allows, of telling the 75 story in different ways with varying degrees of success. I think the beauty of the 75, and the 300, is that it forces you into different ways of thinking and writing.

It doesn't make a difference as voting closed but just wanted to say either @dannymcg or @nixie would have had my vote for different reasons.

Danny's dark humour made me chuckle and Nixies had a natural flow and ebb to the wording.

Very deserving winner @Peter V and a very disturbing story. Congratulations!
