Does ‘horror’ come under ‘speculative fiction’?

My idea for my story doesn’t include any horror with this being family friendly but definitely has ties.

Horror would come under speculative fiction.
The theme and genre are a guide, everyone has their own interpretation, go with what your comfortable with.

The one rule we are very strict with is word count, go over and it is outside the hour editing window, entry removed and unable to re-enter until next challenge. You're still allowed to vote

It's a horror story, all right. An all too believable one. I like it.

I'm surprised at how easy that was to pull together. I still feel like I've not got it quite right. I'm glad to have entered, though.

I know it's a bit sentimental, but I find doing dark stories rather difficult at this time of year.
