This is quite the long shot, but I'm giving it a try since Google and Goodreads were absolutely no help... I am looking for a book that a friend was discussing with me earlier today. He said he read the book a few year ago but doesn't have a specific timeline as to when it might have been published. The story is about metahumans (his word choice, he said they were called something else in the actual story) living in hiding among actual humans, with many gifts ranging from shape-shifting to telepathy; the latter being the most dangerous and the hardest to kill. There is a task force that finds the metahumans and kills them. Somewhere in the story, they stumble upon a new female recruit that the task force figures will amount to nothing, but she shows herself indispensable by making special bullets crafted to take down each specific form of metahuman quickly. They end up calling her Bullet. That is the only part of the plot I know, but my friend also said the front cover is an African American female with long dreadlocks looking out into the distance. I'm hoping someone might have an idea as to what the title of this book is! Thanks!
