hello everyone, and thanks for reading the post and trying to help. i am trying to recall a book that I happened to come across while I spent the weekend in jail for speeding and not paying the fine. The main character is male and wakes up in some sort of labyrinth or prison and has strange runes all over him. It turns out the runes are magic and begin to actiavate without him knowing how and he has to learn to use the runes to get out of the labyrinth. I may be off a little on the plot but it was almost 15 years ago and I just remember loving the novel. Thanks again for the help!

That book is unfamiliar to me.
Perhaps if you go to Wikipedia or Google and type in the keywords 'male, man, prison or labyrinth, runes, magic, activate, asleep, coma (?), the time era the story takes place such as the colonial period or the old west or ancient Rome, page numbers and any names you think can remember. Then look at the time frame. Eliminate all books written after 2002.

Sounds a little reminiscent of the Death Gate Cycle.

The magical runes on the skin and the labyrinth definitely sound a bit like the Death Gate books, it's been a long time since I read it but I think the sixth book Into The Labyrinth may have started with some of the protagonists imprisoned in the Labyrinth.

This was a one book only story. It wasn't that long of a book either. Easy to read in a long afternoon on the porch. Good book too.

The question remains whether it is as good a read when not in jail.
Wow! I know that book but I never would have gotten there from what you wrote. There is no magic involved just light speed time dilation and very advanced Science much, much, much, later. ---- But I think you will like it for sure!
