I just looked at this and had a bit of a 'wow' moment. With a bit of sideways thought, it's like something out of a fantasy novel - wake up in the morning and find that the beach has changed shape, cliffs have appeared out of nowhere. It's all just the weather, but in an age of magic it would be... just like magic.

Storm Eleanor changes shape of beaches

(Mods - If this is the wrong place please move.)

We've had smaller versions of this happening on the coast of the Inner Moray Firth after storms - possibly because we also have sand dunes going down to the beach.

I used to live in a house about 20m from the beach of a small bay in the Shetland Islands (I could literally lie in bed at night and hear the waves!) and as various storms came and went the beach would shift from rocky to sandy and back again. I presume which way it went probably depended on things like whether the tide was rising or falling when the storm hit and what way the wind was blowing.
