Hello there.
I've been trying for years to find the title/author of a lone spaceman short story I read in the mid 60s in a paperback my grandfather threw in the wastebasket. The lone spaceman wakes in a empty city on an unnamed planet and discovers that the city itself is aware of him and begins to try to sustain him. At first the city tries to feed him in a sort of automated food station with a toxic mixture, then based on his disgusted response creates some palatable food.
That's really all I remember.
Thanks!
