In the late 60's I recall a sci-fi short story plot dealing with a musician or orchestra conductor who creates a bizarre music hall that is designed to collapse when a specific symphony, written by the conductor, is played. The weird plot reveals that the symphony will create acoustics that are intended to cause the music hall to collapse. SPOILER ALERT! It does! And and at the last minute, during the crescendo, this conductor grabs a woman that has spurned him and they die in each others arms. Strange, huh? Anybody know it? Altdude

Brings to mind Radio Freefall by Matthew Jarpe. But that was aught seven, and... probably somewhat different. Something about a mad rock concert, on the moon, with music designed for mind control/disablement of baddie, fascist guys.
Ten years since I read it.

But don't worry. The Chrons crack staff will surely get you an answer in a matter of hours.

Maybe it's this one, which I reviewed a while back in a collection of stories by Theodore Sturgeon:

"Largo" (Fantastic Adventures, July 1947) -- A musical genius catches a glimpse of a beautiful woman and spends many years creating a composition that will capture her in music, as well as designing a concert hall where it will be performed. A study in obsession with various science fiction elements -- flying cars and the like -- which seem out of place in what is really more of a psychological story.

I was actually going to say, based on OP memories, that it reminds me of an old Sturgeon story. However it would have taken a lot of digging to get the title :)

Victoria Silverwolf! YOU GOT IT! "Largo" is it! I found it on-line after I read your input! That story has been buggin' me for a long time! Thanks a million! Altdude
