Hey guys!

If there's any fans of strategy gaming here who've always wanted to play a Babylon 5 galaxy conquer strategy game then I've gotta recommend Babylon 5 mod for good old Civilization 4. I'm not allowed to post links, videos or cool images so I'll just have to talk about it instead and try not to put people to sleep hahaha.

There's a lot of great B5 cockpit simulator games and mods out there and there's some good RTS mods too however I've always been more of a large scale TBS gamer so I've dreamed of the chance to conquer the galaxy of the B5 universe. Last year I finally got my chance when a fan of my Babylon 5 Games website list (which I posted about in this forum last year) told me I was missing the B5 Civ4 mod. I was like "WAT???" as I'm a huge Civ player so I was horrified that I didn't know about this mod lol. It cleverly uses the existing Final Frontier mod for Civ 4 that converts the whole game into a space based Master of Orion style experience. I love Orion as well so instead of just plonking it in my B5 website tribute list and leaving it I knew I actually had to try this one.

So I tried it out and next thing I knew 3 months of my life had vanished lmao. For a turn based strategy gamer like me who’s always wanted to play a sandbox game as the Earth alliance colonising planets and conquering the galaxy with Hyperions, Omegas & Warlocks it was just a dream come true!! It's pretty tough though as the raider, drakh and shadow attacks are relentless all while you're trying to compete with the other major races! The creator has plans to add huge battle scenarios (separate to the sandbox game much like the famous Star Trek Civ 4 mod), and he wants to have playable Shadows & Vorlons too. Unfortunately he’s the only one left working on the project now and he has limited C++ coding/graphics skills so progress is slow. Hopefully he doesn't abandon it! If anyone here has some skills feel free to drop him a line!

Sadly I have no graphical or programming skills so I couldn't help him either but I did help him fix up his forum and sourceforge page as he's not very good with website stuff and it was least I could do for the happiness his mod had brought me. I was going through a bit of a rough patch last year (stressful job & breakup blah blah blah) so discovering his mod and having so much darn fun with it was perfect timing. In fact it touched me so much I decided to make a video series tour of the mod where I show off lots of ships & battles and ramble on for like an hour about how much i loved it haha.

If anyone wants to check it out just google 'Babylon 5 Civ 4' and around the top results you should see the sourceforge page and maybe a few of my youtube video tours of the mod. Civ 4 is pretty cheap on steam these days.. not sure if it's on gog though!

Can finally post links and videos etc now haha so blow is the rather important details I couldn't post before sorry

Unfortunately there's no good news on him working on the mod again. Still abandoned and getting no help. :( But as you can see in the videos I still had an absolute BLAST playing it in its current form.

Thanks buddy. I'm gonna check it out, not played civ4 for ages. My normal go-to B5 mods are the sins of a solar empire mod, the st armada2 mod and occasionally Birth of the federation mod (for turn based). Although I recently got my hands on empire at war (forces of corruption) and the B5 mod is awesome.
I find all these mods though, need a bit of tweaking and adjusting, which I do quite a bit of

Grr I wish this site let people edit their posts longer or indefinitely!! Just realised I wrote blow instead of below haha!

I've heard of a B5 BOTF mod but not seen any pictures of it.. Can you link me? How complete it is? are there B5 3D ship models in combat?? If so OH man do I need to add it to my Babylon 5 Games list!!

If you're a big BOTF fan mate then this might interest you. A few years back I did a test of all the BOTF2 fan projects and to my surprise they are still active after like 20 years and have come a long way! None of them have 3D combat yet though sadly.

Forgot to post here that I decided to do a special part 3 bonus video showing some of the cool end game techs and ships in battle (Omegas, Warlocks, Drakh, Shadows, Whitestars & ISA Victory etc). Gave a few final thoughts on the mod too:

The developer hasn't been getting much help sadly (I have no programming or artist skills so I can't help him either) so I'm not sure what the future holds for this project but if anyone's interested you can get more info & the latest version from here:
