Owned this years ago paperback and revisiting it since I want to write funny scifi/speculative fiction.

To me so far it seems like a Christ story, with Rumfoord playing God and Malachi Constant/Unk as Jesus. His death is when he is kidnapped by the Martians and subjected to loses all his memories, although he regains his memory over 7 times. This effectively makes Constant a "reborn" character in my opinion. It's still funnier then Player Piano, God that ending was sad.
