Hello, sorry for my poor "frenglish".., I should be more at my place in a French forum, although they are not so many in French about PKD – but in the present case I HAVE to ask my question in an English one. It is about translation.
I am currently working on The Exegesis of Philip K. Dick. (for some years I have done extensive research about Science Fiction and its link with psychoanalysis ; starting from N.Wiener then John W.Campbell, Vogt, Asimov and PKD. I expose this work in French through SF style reports : in youtube = h7oIm-8gwiU & in antheaumtoll.xyz + lathakh/ - and others. Especially I am starting and extended review of The Exegesis – sort of exegesis of The Exegesis – in lepartidelintelligence.org +2018 + htm + 20180624113000_lexegera htm ( sorry i am hampered with the links, Valis is severe !! ). And here comes the point :
At the very begining of The Exegesis, in the initial ‘note’, the French translator mentions the « Saint Autre » (the note is of 6 pages, and the quote is from the 5th). For French psychoanalysis (lacanian) any writing of « Autre » with upercase, indicates a very special concept. Later on, in The Exegesis, there does not seem to often mention this ‘Autre’. Il would be very interested to know, what is the original word, in English.
(here a more extended extract from the French version : « à l’apogée du phénomène initial par lequel le "saint Autre" s’est déversé en moi.. p.41» and further more later in note [4:103] PKD gives a description of this « Autre » - what is the english word he uses there also ?
