Farewell to Shimmer

Just wanted to post a fond farewell to Shimmer Magazine, which has just closed to submissions for the last time.

Shimmer | Speculative fiction for a miscreant world

I only recently discovered Shimmer, but it became one of my first places to submit new stories to and I always enjoyed finding new, imaginative works published by it.

Does anyone have any favorite stories from it?

How sad. The website seems to be down already. I bought their best of 2017 and some of the stories weren't to my tastes at all, but I enjoyed others. It was a market suggested for my writing, but I didn't get a relevant story to Shimmer submission stage.

I'm puzzled.

However no talk of stopping the magazine and they have so many contributing authors that it wouldn't seem necessary to shut down the magazine.

It's a huge commitment to run a magazine like this - the time and paying authors for a start.

However my point is that the OP suggested--in my reading of it--that they were folding tents; which would go along with your statement, and that contradicts what I see at the website. So unless you can point me to the statement where they say they are folding up and will be no more, then rather than goodbye it would look more like we don't need new authors.

I did a surface check of the pages available so maybe that statement is buried in there somewhere that I missed.
They still seem to be asking for people to subscribe.
