I read a series a number of years ago, I would like to read again. However, I have forgotten the titles and author. The books are set in space, first book starts with a 'hero' who has scars on his face, rescue a beautiful woman from a 'evil' protagonist. The 'hero' turns out to be a villian of sorts and the 'evil' character sort of good. The woman is essentially the real hero. Aliens appear in either late book one or book two. They are blue in colour, and I think can control humans minds. First book would only be 250-300 pages, subsequent books 450-500+. Later books have large battles between aliens and humans, all the while there are interaction between three key characters. Any suggestions are very appreciated.
