Four years ago, Brian Gitta and his fellow students at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, came up with a low-cost, reusable device which detects malaria quickly without drawing blood.

Not necessarily a game changer since it's effectiveness is quite a bit lower than the standard method. A game changer would be a way to easily inoculate children or rid the blood of the parasite. Definitely a step in the right direction though. I hope these kids keep innovating!
