Fantasy/Horror/Mystery Novel, set in Eastern Europe.

I read a novel in about 2013/14, it was set somewhere in Eastern Europe, and was about a boy whose village was gradually being taken over by vampire like creatures. I think his father dies to them, though I can't quite remember, and it is up to the boy to save the village. Also, towards the end, he finds a unique saber underneath his father's bed, which reveals his dad used to hunt these creatures before settling. The novel may have had "blade" in the title, but I'm not sure. I cannot remember the novelist at all.
