Vaccine or interspecies mating causes gender change at puberty on moon colony

Hi!
I read a paperbook sci fi book in the U.S. sometime in the late 1980's-early 1990's with a plot line where the first generation colonists on the moon/new planet began to switch genders at puberty due to an immunization (or maybe alien interbreeding or radiation?). I cannot recall the author, title, or cover art, but would love to revisit this story. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Is this maybe Retrograde Summer by John Varley? It's a short story that's in the Persistence of Vision collection. Not at home now to check my copy and can't find any reviews but it seems familiar.
