Except for the first fantasy story the rest are ironic tales quite twisty with 19th century dialog. Not your ordinary western, more like True Grit.
I loved this movie, the Coen brothers are amazing.

Ballad of Buster Scruggs , is , in a way, a bit of a follow on to True Grit, the Coen's better version of the novel (the John Wayne one is good too, but not as good).
The stories are more ironic … you know real stories for the real old west are more ironic than these.
I loved the oddest story of the 6, Meal Ticket,... my take is this story is more ambiguous than on the surface.

Watching it again I realize that Meal Ticket is a commentary on current film 'entertainment'..... har.
People would rather trade a thespian for a side show chicken!

Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair.
