I am looking for an English space science fiction novel and I hope you guys can help me.
I read this book in the early 2000s (2002 - 2003) which I got from a library.
Setting is completely in space on a spaceship.
Plot:
3 really long spaceships (many miles in length) were sent out from Earth carrying a large crew each.
On the ship was an Artificial Intelligence that looked after the ship and defended it against asteriods and other space debris.
The book starts off where the AI purposely disables the ship's defenses and allows an asteroid to kill all the crew who are meeting in one room.
It saves only two babies and raises them to teenages while suppressing their hormones using the food.
They were one boy and one girl.
The teenages stumble upon hidden parts of the ship where the AI had so visibility into (as it was damaged from the asteroid).
They hid away and ate normal food which made their bodies develop normally.
They then fell in love and decided to revolt against the AI.
