Hello Everyone,
I'm looking for a paperback series that I got back in the late 70's or early 80's. It was about a small team (maybe four?) of humans who would travel to distant worlds and recon the suitability to colonize. I think there were three books that I read. They included dealing with dangerous indigenous life forms. What I do remember were carnivorous worms, large wasps, and apes. But more like aggressive orangutans.
One part of the wasp story had a group of bull type of creatures sacrifice themselves to slow down the wasps so the rest of the heard could escape.
They used exoskeletons to run around the planets. I think the captain had a patch over his eye and the first officer was a hot blonde. I remember there was also a black crewman that was some type of scientist.
Anyway, I hope someone can help.
Thanks,
-Matt
